Abstract
Thesis is a scientific essay that must be written by students as part of the final requirements in completing their academics. Students often face various challenges in preparing a thesis, one of which is the difficulty in determining the right thesis title, the difficulty of getting the right time to consult with the supervisor is also an obstacle. This makes students tend to delay thesis work so that students often face anxiety disorders, one of which is due to psychosocial factors. Anxiety is a mental disorder that often occurs in students, especially in medical students (44.3% of 1,181 preclinical students). This study was conducted to determine the relationship between anxiety levels and psychosocial factors in preparing a thesis in 2023 at the Faculty of Medicine, Hang Tuah University. This study uses quantitative methods. The population in this study were all active students who were preparing a thesis in 2023. The sample size obtained was 138 respondents. Psychosocial is the individual needs of a person who is combined with the needs and demands of society, often psychosocial aspects have an impact on psychological and social changes that occur after experiencing stress, traumatic events. The results showed that out of 138 respondents 9 people experienced severe anxiety which was influenced by sleep patterns, 6 people experienced severe anxiety which was influenced by family meetings. The conclusion is that there is a relationship between psychosocial factors and the level of anxiety in students of the Faculty of Medicine, Hang Tuah University Surabaya who are preparing a thesis in 2023.
